Job Description
The On Call Driver will drive and maintain RTV vehicles as needed within and outside of program areas. The role includes conducting daily checks, minor repairs, maintaining accurate vehicle records, and ensuring adherence to traffic laws and organizational policies. The driver will also be responsible for transporting goods and staff safely, and keeping the vehicle clean and roadworthy at all times.

How to Apply
Drive and maintain RTV vehicles as assigned.
Conduct daily security and functionality checks on the vehicle.
Ensure vehicles follow maintenance schedules and report any mechanical faults.
Perform minor vehicle repairs and coordinate major repairs with approved garages.
Maintain an accurate logbook for all journeys.
Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of the vehicle.
Adhere to all traffic laws and RTV vehicle policies.
Take responsibility for goods and passenger safety during transportation.
Ensure proper use of safety belts and onboard First Aid equipment.
Maintain fuel consumption within acceptable limits.
Avoid using mobile phones while driving.
Be available for long-distance trips and travel to remote locations.
Uganda Certificate of Education (O’ Level Certificate) is mandatory.
Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technician Course Part II or equivalent.
At least 5 years of experience as a mechanic or fleet assistant, preferably with an international NGO.
Valid driving licenses for classes A, B, and DL.
Good command of English and any Ugandan local languages.
Willingness to work in remote, rural areas under challenging conditions.
Knowledge of traffic and road transport regulations in Uganda.
Must wear prescription glasses if required while driving.
High level of integrity, accountability, and professional conduct.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Respectful, flexible, and able to manage time efficiently.
