This role is crucial for ensuring that the company maintains positive relationships with local communities, adheres to corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments, and addresses social risks.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Environmental Studies, or a related field: Essential for understanding social dynamics and community engagement.

  • Advanced Degree (e.g., Master’s in Social Work, Environmental Management, or similar): Often preferred, particularly for senior roles.


Experience

  • Relevant Experience: Typically 5+ years of experience in community relations, social responsibility, or a similar role, preferably within the oil and gas industry or extractive industries.

  • Experience in Project Management: Experience managing social projects or CSR initiatives is beneficial.

  • Experience in Conflict Resolution: Practical experience in mediating conflicts and addressing grievances.


Skills

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, company staff, and government officials.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Deep understanding and respect for local cultures and traditions.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address social issues and conflicts proactively.

  • Project Management: Skills in planning, implementing, and monitoring social programs.

  • Negotiation and Mediation: Expertise in negotiating with stakeholders and mediating conflicts.
