Job Description
Job Title: Occupational Health and Safety Officer
Organisation: Green Power International (GPI)
Duty Station: Bugolobi, Kampala, Uganda
We are currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join our team. If you are passionate about ensuring workplace safety and compliance, we invite you to apply!
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet both legislative and company requirements.
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections to identify hazards, ensuring a safe workplace for all employees.
Provide safety training and workshops to staff to raise awareness and ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and compliance, while recommending and implementing continuous improvement measures.
Ensure full compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Education: Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Occupational Health and Safety, with a proven track record of undertaking at least two similar assignments.
Strong understanding of health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff.
Ability to perform risk assessments, safety audits, and investigations.
Certification in first aid and emergency response is a plus.
