Job Description
The National Director will serve as the chief executive of Special Olympics Ghana, providing strategic leadership to advance the organization’s mission. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the National Director will ensure compliance with statutory obligations, manage internal operations, oversee the development and execution of programs, and represent the organization at both national and international levels. The role requires fundraising, training coordination, public representation, and leadership of organizational planning and development.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement an annual strategic plan aligned with Global and Special Olympics Africa Region strategies.
Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
Oversee development, execution, and evaluation of sports and inclusion programs.
Manage finances, human resources, branding, media relations, and operations.
Train and support local coaches, volunteers, and family members.
Lead fundraising efforts to support program expansion and sustainability.
Represent Special Olympics Ghana in national and international forums.
Maintain effective stakeholder relationships and ensure transparent reporting.
Limits of Authority
As determined by the Board of Directors and organizational policy.
Fiscal authority is limited to existing financial policies and budgetary guidelines.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
First Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Education, Sports Administration, Business Administration, or Nonprofit Management); Master’s Degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
High integrity, ethical conduct, and strong value-based leadership.
Proven experience in strategic planning, program development, and fundraising.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of special needs programming is a plus.
Deep passion for the mission and values of Special Olympics.
