Job Description
Job Title: Menstrual Health Educator
Organisation: Days for Girls International
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reporting to the Uganda Country Manager, Days for Girls Menstrual Health Educator is responsible for ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of Days for Girls’ Menstrual Health Curriculum, supporting the Uganda Program Manager to implement high-quality programming with a focus on DfG Menstrual Health Education (Ambassador of Women’s Health Education (AWH) and Men Who Know (MWK)) and the distribution of DfG washable kits in Uganda. Days for Girls Educator will also provide support where needed to other aspects of DfGU efforts, including administration and advocacy. In all areas, Days for Girls Menstrual Health Educator will work to protect the quality and consistency of DfG’s Menstrual Health Education Program and DfG’s commitment to advancing locally led menstrual equity.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Programs Grant & Project Implementation
Responsible for smooth implementation of Menstrual Health projects in Uganda
Conduct AWH and MWK training sessions during single distributions and project-based distributions in Uganda
Conducting community engagement and stakeholder engagement
Serve as a linkage between the DfGU Program Office and the assigned community and Social enterprises within.
Responsible for supporting data collection and activity reporting.
Responsible for narrative, financial (expense) and pictorial reporting of distribution activity.
Responsible for Kit quality checking and generating local kit sales opportunities
Act as a linkage between supply chain hub and local community for kit orders and kit sales.
Promote and maintain a spirit of equity, respect, transparency, and appreciation with colleagues, partners, and beneficiaries.
Identify potential risks and implementation challenges and proactively seek solutions in collaboration with DfG Uganda staff and partners.
Work closely with the Uganda Program Manager to ensure reliable data and impact reporting on projects according to the donor needs and problem solving to ensure all deliverables are met.
Responsible for supporting the execution of project deliverables, coordination of project planning, budgeting, and monitoring processes.
Admin
Meet with the Uganda Program Manager weekly during ongoing engagements.
Attend country team meetings.
Participate in the DfGU bimonthly staff meeting
Contribute content to all DfGU reports and the monthly Uganda newsletter in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A minimum of a diploma or A bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Health Sciences, Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Health, Social and Behavioral Change, or any related field to SRHR, women and Gender studies.
Must successfully pass the DfG Education and Program Training.
Proficiency with operating a variety of office equipment and computer hardware/software applications, most especially Google Suite products. Salesforce experience is a plus.
Written and oral fluency in English and 2 or more local languages of the assigned area are required.
Ability to travel up to 70% of the time within Uganda.
Must possess a Police Background Check Report.
Experience & Personal Characteristics:
Candidates must possess strong communication and report-writing skills.
Strong project management and collaboration skills.
Must be results-driven and possess community entry and basic stakeholder engagement skills.
Must-have presence on social media. Flexibility to travel within Uganda to work.
Must possess basic photography skills.
Strong ability to be self-motivated, take initiative, flexible and adaptable.
Love collaboration as well as independence and can work well with team members from different cultures.
Detail-oriented and conscientious in carrying out responsibilities accurately to completion.
Demonstrated commitment to community-created and led development solutions, elevating the voices and perspectives of local leaders.
Demonstrated passion for menstrual equity will have added value.
Experience and interest in sales and marketing will be an added value.
Preferred Languages
Luo, Luganda, Lusoga, Kiswahili, Rukiga and Runyankore. Note: ability to speak two or more of these languages is added advantage.
