About the Organisation
National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.
In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.
On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.
In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.

Job Description
Job Title: Marketing Officer

Reports to: Deputy Director, Marketing
Position Overview
NIC General is seeking a results-driven and customer-focused individual to join our dynamic team as a Marketing Officer. The role involves generating new business, promoting insurance products, building strong client relationships, and supporting customer retention strategies in line with the company’s growth objectives.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Actively source, promote, and close sales for NIC General's insurance products and services.
Conduct presentations to potential clients, showcasing product benefits and features.
Guide customers through application, proposal, and claim processes.
Clearly explain product terms, conditions, and policy details to customers.
Collect and relay customer feedback to supervisors for service improvement.
Maintain accurate client records to support retention and renewals.
Evaluate proposals and make recommendations to Underwriters on risk and coverage.
Attend and report during weekly marketing meetings, presenting performance updates and pipeline status.
Monitor expiring policies and initiate timely renewals with clients and Underwriters.
Schedule and conduct visits to existing and prospective clients.
Support product development and enhancement based on market feedback and trends.
Contribute to marketing and business planning, monitor results, and recommend adjustments.
Prepare and submit sales reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Provide insights and feedback for continuous improvement in customer care.
Ensure proficient use of internal systems and adherence to CRM protocols.
Source business through multiple channels to meet set targets and budgets.
Stay current with industry trends and competitors to identify product and market opportunities.
Handle client inquiries and provide timely responses in line with the service charter and SLAs.
Facilitate premium collection in accordance with the company’s Credit Control Policy.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of a Diploma in Marketing or a related field from a recognized institution.
Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance is required.
At least 3 years’ experience in the insurance industry, preferably in a similar role.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and report writing abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet usage.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Customer-focused with a positive attitude and service-oriented mindset.
High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
