Job Description
The purpose of the Managing Director is to lead and drive the strategic growth and overall success of our operations in Uganda. The Managing Director will be responsible for developing and executing a robust business strategy, building, and managing a high-performing team, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, and all regulators.
Purpose The ultimate goal of this role is to achieve revenue targets, expand market presence. and establish eLipa as a leader in the local fintech industry.
The Managing Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's future growth and in delivering exceptional customer experiences. while upholding high ethical standards and ensuring operational excellence
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company's growth strategy in the assigned country, in alignment with the overall organizational objectives.
Build and manage a high-performing team, including recruitment, training, performance management. and career development.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, financial institutions, other partners, and clients. Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify business opportunities and challenges.
Drive revenue growth by identifying new market segments, expanding the customer base, and maximizing customer satisfaction and retention. Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies to achieve business targets and enhance brand visibility.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and effectively manage risk within the country operations.
Provide regular reports, updates, and insights to eLipa Group senior management on country performance, market dynamics, and strategic recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, operations, finance, and legal, to support business objectives and drive operational efficiency.
Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to anticipate market trends and leverage opportunities

Qualifications and Competencies
Proven experience of not less than 3 years in the fintech industry, with a demonstrable track record in a similar managerial role.
Demonstrable experience in developing and executing strategic business plans.
In-depth knowledge of the local financial services landscape, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.
Strong leadership and people management skills. with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy
Proven experience in driving business growth, expanding market presence, and achieving revenue targets.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to compliance and risk management.
You must possess a valid CRB Certificate or Report from a recognised Credit Reference institution, Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

Demonstrated strategic thinking and decision- making abilities, with a results-oriented mindset. Be strategist and a leader who has ability to steer the company to the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission, and long-term goals.
Demonstrable crisis management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Ability to navigate complex and dynamic business environments, adapting to change and leading organizational transformation.
Be a self-starter with a high degree of resourcefulness requiring minimal supervision
