Job Description
This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and optimizing the performance of computer hardware systems in Unix enterprise environments and/or Linux operating system
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT infrastructure strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
Team Management: Lead and manage a team of IT professionals responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the IT infrastructure.
Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient IT infrastructure solutions including networks, servers, storage, and virtualization technologies.
Security and Compliance: Ensure that IT infrastructure meets security standards, compliance regulations, and best practices. This includes implementing security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers. This may involve negotiating contracts, overseeing service level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring vendor performance.
Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage budgets for IT infrastructure projects, equipment, and resources. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvement.
Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Oversee the resolution of IT infrastructure-related incidents and problems. This may involve troubleshooting issues, coordinating with other IT teams, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Capacity Planning: Monitor and forecast IT infrastructure capacity requirements to ensure adequate resources are available to support current and future business needs.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation for IT infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, availability, and utilization.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often required. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, CISSP) may be preferred.
Experience: Typically, 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management or a related role is required. Candidates should have a strong background in networking, systems administration, and infrastructure architecture.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in networking protocols, server administration, virtualization technologies, cloud computing, and IT security. Experience with infrastructure automation tools and techniques (e.g., scripting, configuration management) is also valuable.
Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively managing teams, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving projects to successful completion.
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions is crucial for addressing IT infrastructure challenges and optimizing performance.
Strategic Thinking: An IT Infrastructure Manager should have a strategic mindset, capable of aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and anticipating future infrastructure needs.
Adaptability: Given the rapidly evolving nature of technology, IT Infrastructure Managers should be adaptable and open to learning new skills and technologies to keep pace with industry trends and advancements.
