Job Description

Bwasco Water & Sewerage PLC is seeking a qualified Manager, Finance and Accounting to oversee its financial operations and strategic planning. The role involves managing the company's cash flow, ensuring statutory compliance, and supervising the finance department to enhance efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting and risk management to support the company's growth in the water and sanitation sector.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Developing templates and compiling section monthly reports and make necessary recommendations
  • Preparing the payment schedule;
  • Ensure timely statutory payments and levies;
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and banking transactions.
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial procedures and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze factors influencing business performance and identify areas for potential improvement, often through research and reporting.
  • Perform financial planning and analysis to forecast future performance, identify potential risks, and support decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage the company's cash flow to maintain liquidity and solvency, ensuring timely payment of obligations.
  • Analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) to identify trends, assess performance, and make informed decisions.
  • Risk management: They assess and manage financial risks to ensure the business remains resilient, even in the face of economic challenges.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Supervise finance department employees, including accountants, and provide guidance and support.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve the company's financial performance.
