Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor will report to the Technical Manager and ensure all maintenance tasks, both preventative and reactive, are completed efficiently and within agreed service levels. The role requires hands-on management of the maintenance team, coordination with subcontractors, and compliance with health and safety standards. The supervisor will also manage administrative tasks such as reporting, scheduling, stock control, and contribute to quality assurance and EHS audit requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee and manage maintenance of buildings, fixtures, and fittings
Supervise the Maintenance Team and allocate tasks to meet service level agreements (SLAs)
Monitor and ensure completion of reactive and preventative maintenance
Perform quality control inspections and assist in technical tasks
Maintain maintenance schedules, update call lists, and compile monthly activity reports
Ensure proper use, tracking, and storage of tools and materials
Manage team schedules, HR, and performance
Monitor and vet subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
Maintain documentation on internal systems including intranet and SharePoint
Collaborate with finance and compliance managers for vendor approvals and audits
Coordinate help desk requests and escalate unresolved issues
Assist with EHS and ISO audits
Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining a customer-focused service culture
Remain available for after-hours support and emergency maintenance
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 / Matric
Post-Matric qualification (NQF Level 5 or higher)
Qualified Artisan (Electrical, Mechanical, Millwright – Trade Test)
Currently studying or holding a Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Experience:
3–5 years’ experience in facilities or building maintenance
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in Plumbing, Carpentry, Welding, Painting, Electrical, and General Maintenance
Strong MS Office and project/resource management skills
Knowledge of maintenance programs and electrical installations
Excellent customer relations and people management
Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and ability to multitask
