How to Apply
Activities
The position holder shall have the following responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze existing national/international laws and regulations, changes (including draft form) which may impact the Company and advise on their interpretation and application/ enforcement.
Under take legal research work.
Provide timely legal opinions (written or oral) and legal support to all aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations.
Prepare, draft and where applicable review contracts, documents, and correspondence to be signed by the company.
Participate in negotiations with service providers, contractors, joint venture partners, public authorities and other stakeholders.
Provide legal support in litigation by and against company.
Communicate with external counsel and internal departments to schedule meetings, interviews and participate in dispute resolution and settlement processes.
Whenever and as often as necessary, coordinate and share experiences with partners, authorities and the midstream legal function.
Identify potential legal and contractual risks in the company’s day-to-day operations and propose mitigation measures.
Contribute to improve skills and know-how, by sharing expertise and participating in legal staff training awareness sessions.
Prepare relevant reports weekly, quarterly, annual for internal and HQ purposes.
Coordinate timely signing process of contracts.
Coordinate timely and consistent payment of all fees and invoices related to the legal section.
Maintain proper filing system and ensure that documentation is appropriately preserved.
Contribute to improve skills and know-how.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experiences required
Education:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized University, Post graduate diploma in Legal Practice
Experience:
Not exceeding 3-5 years after graduation.
Basic understanding of oil and gas contracts and Uganda’s legal and regulatory framework for the oil and gas industry.
Contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural and international business environment.
Very good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to cope with and work in high pressure environment.
