Job Description
Job Title: Legal Apprentice (No Experience Fresh Graduate Jobs)
Organisation: ABSA Bank Uganda
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Job Summary:
Participate in an internship programme in order to maximise individual and organisational development, through the execution of predefined internship objectives.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and analyzing various banking agreements including loan documentation, security documents, and corporate banking facilities under supervision.
Attend to assigned litigation matters such as updating the litigation tracker.
Undertake legal research in respect of assigned matters and issue supervised and approved legal opinions.
Attend to administrative tasks of the Legal Function including;
Renewal of practicing certificates and approval of chambers.
Arrange continuous legal education training for the advocates in the Legal Function.
Recording, filing and archiving of legal documents and correspondences.
Prepare department reports.
Update the legal calendar with relevant dates such as court attendances.
Due diligence including company searches and verification of letters of administration.
Attend to assigned company secretariat matters including booking meetings, attend to Board members requests, update Director information, and attend to any tasks incidental thereto as may be assigned from time to time.
Follow up and ensure legal fees are paid to lawyers within SLA.
Assist during internal compliance, audits and regulatory examinations.
Attend to such other matters as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor of Laws (LLB); qualified advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
Education
Higher Certificates and Advanced National (Vocational) Certificates: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)

Good communication skills – oral and written.
Strong Interpersonal skills.
Planning and organization.
Report writing.
Administrative skills.
Ability to multitask.
Excellent computer skills majorly in Ms. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
