Job Description
As the Lead Product Technologist, you will be responsible for overseeing all phases of product development, from concept to commercialization. You will lead technical innovation and ensure all formulations comply with regulatory and customer standards. Your role involves close collaboration with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and outsourced manufacturers, along with managing R&D documentation, recipe development, packaging data, and process optimization. You will also support the NPD Manager in project prioritization and stakeholder engagement.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop new products using sustainable and cost-effective techniques.
Collaborate with suppliers to source new raw materials with required certifications (Halaal, Kosher, etc.).
Develop product formulations aligned with regulatory and claim requirements.
Complete and manage documentation including trial requests and reports.
Identify and implement raw material substitutions.
Conduct shelf-life and micro testing on products.
Work closely with outsourced manufacturers on third-party projects.
Ensure recipe accuracy and load data into R&D systems.
Conduct plant trials and HACCP studies.
Partner with Supply Chain on continuous improvement (CI) and capex needs.
Provide accurate nutrition information and ensure packaging compliance.
Interface with Category Marketing and external stakeholders for product research.
Present technical information effectively to internal and external audiences.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
ND, BSc, or BTech in Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry
Experience:
6–8 years of relevant product development experience in an FMCG environment
Skills and Competencies:
In-depth technical knowledge of product development
Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Analytical and systematic problem-solving skills
Effective decision-making based on experimental outcomes
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
