Job Description
The Technical Lead will be responsible for scoping, planning, and implementing technical solutions to meet business requirements within Transaction Banking. The role requires interpreting requirements, defining tasks, building high-quality software, and ensuring end-to-end testing and compliance. The incumbent will lead and mentor software and quality engineers, institutionalise test automation, and drive continuous improvement using performance metrics, dashboards, and retrospectives. The position requires close collaboration with release management, governance, and compliance teams to ensure traceability and adherence to standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Python or Java, automation, agile engineering, and cloud computing, coupled with leadership experience managing large technical teams.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Scope, plan, design, and deliver end-to-end technical solutions within required standards and timelines.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
Engineer high-quality software and ensure thorough end-to-end testing.
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution of software and database issues.
Lead, manage, and mentor software and quality engineers across delivery teams.
Institutionalise test automation as a foundational capability in the technology function.
Build automation scripts and tools using Python or Java.
Drive continuous improvement using metrics, dashboards, reporting, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with release management and governance to ensure compliance and test traceability.
Build sustainable automation and engineering capabilities through mentoring and upskilling staff.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Degree in Information Technology (minimum requirement).
Experience:
8–10 years’ experience translating business/functional requirements into technical specifications and code.
5–7 years’ experience as both a team leader and team member in agile software engineering environments.
Minimum 1–2 years’ managerial experience running a portfolio of 10+ technical experts.
Proven track record in coaching, mentoring, and building engineering capabilities.
Behavioural Competencies: Practical approach, effective communication, attention to detail, expertise development, documentation accuracy.
Technical Competencies: Agile Engineering, API Engineering, Automation, Cloud Computing, Continuous Delivery (CD).
Strong proficiency in Python or Java.
