Job Description
The Solutions Architect will be responsible for developing domain architectures and solution designs that align with Standard Bank’s long-term technical strategy. This includes creating high-level implementation roadmaps, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, and guiding delivery teams on enterprise solutions. The role requires deep expertise in SAP Core Banking, cloud computing, web services, and enterprise solution architecture. The architect will also collaborate across technology teams, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. Additionally, the role demands active participation in agile environments, the use of architecture modelling tools such as Archimate, and providing mentorship to other architects within the domain.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Define, develop, and maintain domain architectures and solution designs.
Develop high-level roadmaps for implementing solutions and ensure alignment with the bank’s technical direction.
Provide guidance and leadership to architects working on projects and initiatives.
Align architecture solutions with enterprise, information, application, and technology architecture frameworks.
Design and oversee the integration of core banking systems, SAP S/4 HANA, and related platforms.
Develop and design SOAP and REST APIs (including OData).
Collaborate with agile teams using LEAN and SCRUM practices.
Contribute to strategic projects such as authentication systems, migrations, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Ensure alignment with cloud platforms (AWS) and modern DevOps practices.
Monitor emerging technologies and apply them to banking domain solutions.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Postgraduate degree in Information Technology or related field.
Experience:
5–7 years in agile technology environments with exposure to platform and operating system management.
8–10 years designing enterprise-level innovative solutions in technology businesses, including enterprise, business, application, or technology architecture.
8–10 years in one or more technology areas such as IT architecture, infrastructure, software engineering, cloud development, business analysis, or DevOps.
Strong experience with SAP Core Banking, SAP Banking Services, Fioneer S/4 TRBK, and SAP S/4 HANA.
Knowledge of ABAP development (including RAP framework).
Experience designing and implementing APIs (SOAP/REST).
Familiarity with AWS architecture.
Retail Banking domain knowledge.
Architecture modelling proficiency (Archimate).
Strong software engineering and solution design expertise.
Behavioural Competencies: Strategic thinking, adaptability, effective communication, expertise development, ability to challenge and embrace change.
Technical Competencies: IT architecture, emerging technology monitoring, IT applications, IT environment knowledge, and enterprise IT strategy.
