Job Description
Job Title: Lab Chemist – Distillery
Department/Programme: Factory
Section/Project: Distillery
Reports To: Superintendent Shift Distillery / Distillery Manager
Supervises: Operators
Overall Purpose of the Job
To perform laboratory analysis, substitute for DCS operations, and conduct ETP analysis as required.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory analysis during regular shifts and report findings consistently.
Prepare chemical reagents for laboratory use.
Maintain accurate laboratory analysis records.
Culture yeast and develop it up to the culture vessel stage.
Collect and preserve dispatch samples.
Maintain hygienic conditions within the laboratory.
Perform ETP laboratory analysis when required.
Operate and supervise DCS operations when needed.
Adhere to and enforce the company’s Safety, Health, and Environment policies.
Coordinate ISO and UNBS certification activities with the team.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent Shift or Management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education: Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related course from a recognized institution.
Experience, Skills, and Competences
Laboratory analysis skills with a minimum of two years’ experience in a related field.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate causes of process parameter variations.
