Job Purpose
We’re seeking a passionate Quality Assurance Engineer to join our distributed digital team and help deliver high-quality mobile and web solutions that drive clean energy access in Africa.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in QA across mobile ecosystems (especially Android) and a desire to work in high-impact environments. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across Kampala, Berlin, and Nairobi to develop tools that support both ENGIE operations and third-party clients via our SaaS platform: Paygee.

How to Apply
Quality Assurance & Testing
Contribute to robust QA strategies, test plans, and quality gates
Run end-to-end testing on Android and cross-platform mobile apps
Perform manual and automated testing across different device types and network conditions
Maintain and enhance automated test frameworks for mobile, web, and APIs
Technical Support & Documentation
Provide second-level technical support for production systems
Analyze bugs and system behavior in distributed environments
Create and update technical documentation and test procedures
Agile Development & CI/CD
Support quality assurance within agile sprints
Ensure tickets meet acceptance criteria without sacrificing velocity
Validate system integration (RESTful APIs, MQTT, cloud services)
Support test automation integration into CI/CD pipelines
Required Experience & Skills (1–3 Years)
Mobile & Systems Testing
1+ year of hands-on QA testing for Android apps
Understanding of Android development (Kotlin/Java)
Familiarity with production-scale enterprise systems
Technical Proficiency
Strong grasp of REST APIs, MQTT, and real-time systems
SQL and NoSQL database experience
Experience with AWS and Firebase, plus hybrid/cloud-hosted solutions
CI/CD, automated deployments, and infrastructure as code exposure
Technical Competencies
Testing: BDD, TDD, Selenium, Appium, Espresso, API testing tools
Scripting: Python, Ruby, or Kotlin for automation
Monitoring: Sentry, Grafana, or equivalent
Performance Testing: JMeter, Locust
Documentation: Excellent technical writing & traceability practices
Professional Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Team player, highly collaborative
Comfortable in fast-paced, distributed environments
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent
Certifications in QA, mobile testing, cloud, or agile practices
Nice-to-Have Experience
Mobile development (e.g., apps published on Google Play or App Store)
Advanced AWS tools (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway)
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Mobile app security and penetration testing
Localization testing and experience in emerging markets
Languages
English: Fluent (Required)
French: Advantageous
Swahili or other East African languages: Bonus
