Job Description
The Junior Bartender prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to Hyatt brand standards and recipes. They ensure the bar and service area are clean, stocked, and ready for operation. Responsibilities include taking guest orders, cashiering, restocking, and handling customer complaints professionally. The Junior Bartender also participates in maintaining proper inventory levels, monitoring expiry dates of items, and creating a welcoming environment for guests. The role involves multitasking across F&B operations, fostering teamwork, mentoring junior colleagues, and adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Duties
Prepare and serve beverages following standard recipes and presentation guidelines
Set up, clean, and maintain bar and service areas
Handle mise-en-place, table settings, and light cleaning
Take and process food and beverage orders, upselling when possible
Ensure all sales are recorded and perform cashier duties
Handle beverage inventory, monitor expiry dates, and resolve discrepancies
Assist in inventory-taking and maintain proper bar documentation
Create beverage recipes per brand standards
Serve guests according to established performance and service standards
Customer Service
Deliver on the brand promise through exceptional guest service
Handle guest and internal complaints/inquiries courteously and efficiently
Maintain a professional image and positive representation of the hotel
General Responsibilities
Comply with hotel policies on safety, hygiene, fire, and computer use
Attend required meetings and training sessions
Stay adaptable to changes within the F&B department
Carry out other duties as assigned by managers
People and Teamwork
Maintain strong professional relationships across departments
Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues
Mentor junior staff and trainees
Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and a safe work environment
Participate in feedback and training initiatives
Support colleagues during high workload periods
Respond to results from Hyatt’s guest experience survey (HySat)
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Certificate in Food and Beverage Service from a recognized institution
Prior experience as a Bartender or Mixologist in a reputable hospitality establishment
Mixology certification is an added advantage
Strong knowledge of beverage preparation and presentation
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and ability to work in a high-paced environment
Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and brand standards
