Job Description
The role involves managing branch network infrastructure and NMS systems, including scheduled updates, security configurations, and patching. The engineer will work closely with Helpdesk, Field Support, Infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors to resolve issues and implement solutions. Responsibilities also include monitoring key performance metrics, developing disaster recovery strategies, designing new network solutions, and assisting junior engineers with technical challenges. The position requires strong networking expertise, practical experience with enterprise-grade equipment, and the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support and manage branch networks and NMS systems for performance and trend analysis.
Perform scheduled updates, upgrades, security configurations, and patch installations.
Liaise with third-party support providers and connectivity vendors to resolve issues.
Manage and escalate client support tickets as needed.
Track, report, and follow up on escalated issues with vendors.
Maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, network diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
Coordinate with Helpdesk, Field Support, and Infrastructure teams on installations and upgrades.
Monitor performance metrics (traffic, bandwidth, availability, packet loss).
Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies for branch networks.
Design and implement new networking solutions to meet business needs.
Analyze network performance and recommend improvements.
Provide 2nd-level technical support to resolve escalated network issues.
Mentor and assist Junior Engineers in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.
Handle multiple projects while balancing shifting priorities.
Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure aligned support and management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certifications
Relevant IT Networking and Security qualifications (required).
Certification in MTCNA, MTCRE, or higher (MTCINE preferred) is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in IT technical support, networking, and field applications or a related role.
Practical experience with Juniper, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and FortiGate networking equipment (advantageous).
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of networking (switching, routing, VPNs, voice technologies, vulnerability assessments).
Expertise in Fortinet firewalls (support, troubleshooting, deployment, escalation).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to document technical processes and maintain accurate SOPs.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and client service skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
