Job Title:  Insurance Billing Officer (No Experience Jobs)

The Insurance Billing Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate preparation, submission, and follow-up of insurance claims to maximize reimbursements. The role also involves liaising with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

How to Apply

Key Responsibilities

  1. Claims Preparation and Submission

    • Verify patient insurance information and eligibility before service delivery.

    • Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims using appropriate coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS).

    • Ensure compliance with insurance and billing guidelines to minimize claim rejections.

  2. Claims Follow-Up and Resolution

    • Track and follow up on submitted claims to ensure timely reimbursements.

    • Resolve denied or underpaid claims by communicating with insurance companies and identifying reasons for rejections.

    • Correct and resubmit claims promptly when necessary.

  3. Patient and Provider Support

    • Communicate with patients regarding their insurance coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, and billing inquiries.

    • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation for claims submission.

  4. Reporting and Documentation

    • Maintain detailed records of submitted claims, reimbursements, and outstanding amounts.

    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on billing and collections for management review.

    • Conduct regular audits of billing processes to identify and address discrepancies.

  5. Regulatory Compliance

    • Stay updated on insurance policies, billing regulations, and changes in coding standards.

    • Adhere to data protection laws and maintain confidentiality of patient and billing information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Management, or a related field.

  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is an added advantage.

  • Proven experience in medical insurance billing or a similar role.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, billing processes, and medical terminology.

  • Proficiency in billing software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and resolve billing discrepancies effectively.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and insurance providers.


Work Environment

  • Office setting within a healthcare facility or billing department.

  • May require occasional interaction with patients or insurance representatives outside regular working hours.
