Job Title: Humanitarian & WASH Technical Specialist
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Role Overview

The Humanitarian & WASH Technical Specialist provides expert technical leadership and strategic guidance in the design, implementation, and evaluation of WASH and infrastructure programs in both development and humanitarian emergency contexts. This role ensures FH Uganda’s WASH initiatives are innovative, evidence-based, and aligned with national and international standards. The Specialist will also strengthen community engagement, enhance partnerships, and support donor relations for sustainable program impact.

  • Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or related field

  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in Humanitarian and WASH programming, with at least 3 years in a technical specialist role

  • Proven track record managing large-scale WASH and infrastructure projects in both development and emergency settings

  • Strong knowledge of WASH sector standards, government policies, and donor compliance (USAID, EU, UN agencies, World Bank)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant technical software

  • Experience in proposal writing, donor engagement, and resource mobilization


Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in WASH engineering and climate-resilient infrastructure

  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced participatory and community engagement skills

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and capacity-building abilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver results under pressure
