Job Description
The Human Resource Manager will provide leadership in the planning, coordination, and execution of human resource policies, programs, and practices at UMMA. The position involves handling recruitment and selection, developing job descriptions, administering employee benefits, overseeing payroll, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and institutional policies. The manager will also assess training needs, support employee growth, monitor performance, and provide strategic HR input to management. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate employee records, preparing HR reports, and leading HR strategic planning initiatives to anticipate and address workforce needs.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the recruitment and selection process to ensure the hiring of qualified candidates.
Develop and issue job descriptions, qualifications, skills, and responsibilities for all roles.
Assess and determine employee training and development needs.
Implement HR policies, programs, and procedures in line with university strategy.
Maintain employee records, including employment history and work hours.
Administer employee services, benefits, and welfare programs.
Ensure timely preparation and processing of payroll.
Monitor and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulatory requirements.
Plan, organize, and direct employee performance management processes.
Monitor performance against set targets and address deviations.
Participate in executive, management, and staff meetings to provide HR insights.
Prepare periodic HR reports to support strategic decision-making.
Lead HR strategic planning by analyzing and projecting future workforce needs.
Support management with data-driven HR decisions and continuous improvements.
Promote employee engagement and organizational culture that aligns with UMMA’s values.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
At least four (4) years of progressive HR experience.
Certifications such as CHRP or other recognized professional HR certifications highly preferred.
Leadership certification required.
Strong interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR management systems.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic academic environment.
