Job Description
The HR & Payroll Officer will oversee the full scope of HR responsibilities including recruitment, onboarding, staff training, payroll management, and employee benefits administration. The role requires maintaining up-to-date employee records, resolving staff grievances, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting performance management and reporting processes. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, familiarity with payroll systems, and effective communication skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, and train new employees
Maintain and update accurate employee records and HR documentation
Process payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments including salaries, deductions, and statutory remittances
Administer employee benefits such as pensions, health insurance, and leave entitlements
Ensure full compliance with Nigerian labor laws and company HR policies
Address employee grievances, mediate workplace disputes, and support conflict resolution
Generate periodic HR and payroll reports for management
Support performance appraisal and management systems
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR and payroll functions
Solid understanding of Nigerian labor laws and payroll systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
High level of integrity and attention to detail
