Job Description
The Housekeeping Host plays a crucial role in daily hotel operations by servicing guest rooms and maintaining cleanliness across all public and private hotel spaces. The role includes making beds, replenishing supplies, vacuuming, dusting, and attending to guest needs while maintaining safety, hygiene, and presentation standards. The host also ensures accurate reporting of room status, supports colleagues, and participates in training and team coordination efforts. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture of cooperation, professionalism, and continuous improvement across the housekeeping department and the wider hotel team.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Duties
Clean and maintain guest rooms, including floors, furnishings, beds, linens, and bathrooms.
Service up to and including 13+ rooms per day.
Replenish toiletries and minibar items as required.
Maintain cleanliness of corridors, lobbies, function halls, elevators, restrooms, and back areas.
Clean and organize equipment and carts used for housekeeping tasks.
Rearrange and manage hotel furniture and fixtures as needed.
Guest Service
Ensure guest safety and verify room occupancy.
Greet guests and respond to special requests.
Report inconsistencies or issues to team leader or executive housekeeper.
Administrative Duties
Manage section keys responsibly.
Report and hand over lost and found items.
Participate in emergency procedures and perform other related duties as assigned.
Employee Handling
Foster professional relationships with all hotel employees.
Collaborate across departments to address and resolve housekeeping issues.
Mentor junior staff and promote teamwork.
Comply with safety protocols and SOPs.
Support colleagues during peak periods and promote a positive work culture.
Share knowledge and receive feedback for continuous improvement.
Respond to Colleague Experience Survey (CES) outcomes.
General Responsibilities
Read and adhere to the hotel’s rules and safety guidelines.
Attend mandatory training and meetings.
Maintain high grooming and personal presentation standards.
Represent the hotel and Hyatt brand positively.
Adapt to changes in housekeeping operations and perform additional duties as required.
Leadership Duties
Train new staff and interns.
Offer technical support to other departments when required.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Techniques from a recognized institution
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position at a reputable hospitality organization
Excellent attention to detail and hygiene standards
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work efficiently and independently
Commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach
