Job Purpose
The Head of Innovation & Digitization is responsible for driving the bank’s digital transformation agenda by identifying impactful digitization initiatives across business functions. This role focuses on building compelling value propositions for digital projects, defining and refining requirements for IT systems and business applications, and ensuring that all initiatives align with the bank’s strategic goals. The role also bridges business needs with emerging technologies to create business value and customer-centric solutions.

Digital Transformation Strategy
Develop, implement, and continually refine the bank’s digital strategy in alignment with organizational values and business priorities.
Promote a culture of digital innovation, equipping teams with the right skills, tools, and mindsets to deliver on strategic goals.
Establish a structured approach to prioritizing and managing innovation initiatives, creating a clear roadmap with measurable outcomes.
Lead software developers and design teams to prototype, test, and implement digital solutions using agile methodologies.
Ensure that all digital solutions are designed with the end-user in mind, consistently enhancing customer experience.
Innovation Leadership
Build and manage a diverse innovation pipeline that drives sustainable business growth and market differentiation.
Position innovation as a core driver of customer value and long-term engagement.
Ensure timely and scalable go-to-market strategies for new digital products and services.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Develop and update innovation and digitization policies and procedures to reflect industry best practices and global standards.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines (e.g., Bank of Uganda), and budgetary controls.
Departmental Planning & Team Leadership
Foster a collaborative environment that supports experimentation, learning, and adoption of digital best practices.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team in delivering digital and innovation objectives that benefit customers and stakeholders.
Financial Responsibility
Accountable for planning and managing the Innovation & Digitization departmental budget.

Bachelor’s degree in Business IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
Master’s degree in a business or ICT-related field is an added advantage.
Professional certifications in ICT (e.g., ITIL, CISA) or compliance/risk management.
Membership in a recognized banking or professional ICT body is desirable.
Strong proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, GitLab).
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in digital transformation, with at least 5 years in innovation leadership roles.
Proven success in managing complex digital projects and organizational change.
Extensive experience in the design and implementation of enterprise-wide digital solutions.
