Job Description
GOAL Uganda is currently seeking a dynamic and strategic Grants and Programmes Coordinator who will drive programme growth, strengthen donor confidence, and ensure seamless coordination across the country programme portfolio. The Grants and Programmes Coordinator will lead donor and internal reporting processes, will guide proposal and programme development to ensure submissions are timely, compliant, and compelling, and will use data and evidence to produce high‑quality presentations that enhance donor engagement and programme visibility. The Grants and Programmes Coordinator will also foster strong communication and alignment between GOAL Headquarters, regional offices, and the country office, and will play a key role in developing and monitoring the Country Strategy and Annual Action Plan. Working closely with Project Team Leads and using workflow management tools, the Grants and Programmes Coordinator will enhance accountability, promote programme innovation and quality, and support efforts to secure the resources needed to advance GOAL Uganda’s mission

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role will be:
Grant Management:
- Ensure that each project team lead have a comprehensive grants tracker covering key milestones, reporting deadlines, budget utilization, and deliverables across all active grants in the GOAL Uganda portfolio.
- Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of high-quality donor reports (narrative and financial), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with contractual obligations.
- Serve as the primary focal point for grants-related compliance, proactively identifying risks and working with project teams to address gaps or deviations from donor agreements.
- Facilitate grants kick-off and review meetings with project teams and finance, ensuring all stakeholders understand grant conditions, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date grants documentation, filing, and awards management systems to support audits, evaluations, and institutional data and learning.
- Monitor budget vs. actual expenditure in collaboration with the finance team, flagging underspending or overspending risks and supporting corrective action.
Internal and external programmes coordination:
- Coordinate closely with Project Team Leads and the Country Management Team to ensure seamless alignment and integration across the GOAL Uganda Country Programme Portfolio.
- Facilitate effective communication and information flow between GOAL Headquarters, regional offices, and the Uganda country office to foster organisational alignment and synergy.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the country strategy and Annual Country Action Plan, tracking progress against strategic objectives and reporting to senior management.
- Utilize workflow management tools to drive robust programmes coordination, oversight and timely feedback/guidance/actions by members of the country management team and relevant departments at headquarters.
- Coordinate cross-programme learning and knowledge sharing initiatives to promote programme innovation and quality improvement across the country portfolio.
- Liaise with external partners, including NGOs, government agencies, and implementing partners, to support joint programming, collaboration, and partnership management.
- Coordinate programmes review meetings and lessons-learned sessions, documenting outcomes and ensuring follow-up actions are tracked and implemented.
Programmes/Proposal Development:
- Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality, evidence-based funding proposals and concept notes, ensuring submissions are timely, compliant, and compelling to prospective donors.
- Conduct thorough donor landscape analysis and funding opportunity mapping to identify strategic opportunities aligned with GOAL Uganda’s mission and programmatic priorities.
- Collaborate with Project Team Leads, technical staff, and finance to develop realistic programme designs, logical frameworks, budgets, and work plans that meet donor expectations.
- Harness data, evidence, and programme learnings to strengthen proposal narratives and demonstrate impact, ensuring submissions are grounded in context-specific needs and best practices.
- Support programme innovation by integrating new approaches, technologies, and cross-sectoral strategies into programme and proposal design.
- Maintain and continuously update a proposal development calendar and pipeline tracker to ensure all submissions are planned, coordinated, and reviewed in a timely manner.
Representation:
- Represent GOAL Uganda in donor meetings, programme review forums, and coordination platforms, presenting programme achievements and priorities with clarity and credibility.
- Develop high-quality, data-driven presentations, briefs, and reports that effectively communicate programme results and strengthen donor confidence and engagement.
- Elevate the visibility of GOAL Uganda’s programme achievements by producing compelling communication materials including success stories, case studies, and programme updates for internal and external audiences.
- Attend and actively contribute to inter-agency coordination meetings, thematic working groups, and various development programmes forums at the national level, advocating for GOAL Uganda’s programmatic positions and priorities.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key strategic partners, government counterparts, and sector partners to support resource mobilization and contribute to policy dialogues relevant to GOAL’s work.
- Represent the Country Director or Country Management Team in external engagements as delegated, maintaining professional and consistent organisational messages and brands.
- Maintain regular engagement with GOAL Headquarters and regional management to ensure country programme visibility, strategic alignment, and institutional support for programme delivery.
