Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP or IFRS. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, record journal entries, and reconcile balance sheet accounts. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and transactions.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the budgeting process, prepare financial forecasts, and monitor budget performance against actual results. Analyze variances and provide explanations for budget deviations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and trend analysis to identify areas of improvement, cost-saving opportunities, and financial risks. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing audit schedules, supporting documentation, and explanations for financial transactions. Address audit inquiries and implement audit recommendations as needed.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, including corporate income tax returns, sales tax returns, and other regulatory filings. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations and minimize tax liabilities through effective tax planning.
Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, manage cash balances, and prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate liquidity for the organization's operations. Optimize cash management processes and recommend strategies for cash flow improvement.
Financial Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Identify weaknesses in internal controls and recommend improvements as needed.
Financial Systems: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance reporting capabilities.
Ad-Hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis, special projects, and research as requested by management. Provide financial insights and support decision-making on strategic initiatives, investments, and business opportunities.

Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree in accounting or a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) may be preferred or required by some employers.
Experience: Several years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulations. Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation is valuable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle), spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel), and financial management systems. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze financial data, identify trends, and interpret financial information accurately. Ability to perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy in financial records and reports.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders, including management, colleagues, and external parties. Ability to present financial reports and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
Time Management: Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ethical Conduct: Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial information and performing accounting duties. Adherence to professional codes of conduct and ethical standards in accounting.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, share knowledge, and support colleagues in achieving common goals. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
