Job Description
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Develop financial models, projections, and scenarios to support decision-making and resource allocation. Monitor financial performance against targets and KPIs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and plans to support the organization's long-term goals and objectives. Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to senior management and the board of directors.
Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Develop financial models, projections, and scenarios to support decision-making and resource allocation. Monitor financial performance against targets and KPIs.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and dissemination of financial statements, reports, and disclosures in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting to stakeholders, regulators, and investors.
Financial Control: Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
Treasury Management: Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to optimize the organization's financial position and liquidity risk. Develop cash management strategies, investment policies, and banking relationships. Monitor debt levels and debt covenants.
Financial Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk. Develop risk management strategies, hedging programs, and insurance coverage to protect against adverse financial impacts.
Capital Structure and Financing: Evaluate capital structure alternatives and financing options to support growth initiatives, acquisitions, and capital expenditures. Manage capital raising activities, debt financing, and equity transactions. Negotiate terms with lenders and investors.
Financial Governance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements. Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders. Stay abreast of changes in accounting rules, tax laws, and regulatory guidelines.
Financial Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, including recruitment, training, and development of staff. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and excellence within the finance function. Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their full potential.
Strategic Financial Advice: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, board of directors, and senior leadership team on financial matters. Provide insights, analysis, and recommendations on strategic initiatives, investments, and business opportunities.
Mergers and Acquisitions: Lead financial due diligence, valuation, and integration efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. Assess the financial impact of potential transactions and advise on deal structuring, negotiation, and execution.
Investor Relations: Manage relationships with investors, analysts, and other stakeholders in the financial community. Communicate financial performance, corporate strategy, and key developments through earnings calls, investor presentations, and meetings.
Tax Planning and Compliance: Develop tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency. Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Coordinate tax filings, audits, and inquiries with external tax advisors.
Cost Management: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and cost control across the organization. Analyze cost drivers, overhead expenses, and operating expenses to optimize resource allocation and enhance profitability.
Corporate Governance: Uphold high standards of corporate governance, ethics, and integrity in financial management practices. Ensure transparency, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility in all financial matters.
Qualifications and Competencies
Full member of ICPAU.
MBA, BCOM, BSA or BBA.
6 years of experience, (3 years in Management).
Skills in; financial management, taxes, accounting software (ERP).
Experience working in a busy medical setting is an added advantage.
