Job Description
The E-Commerce Manager will spearhead UBL’s digital commerce initiatives, ensuring seamless integration across consumer touchpoints while driving revenue and market share growth. The role involves creating and executing data-driven strategies, managing commercial calendars, building internal capabilities, and leading cross-functional collaborations with marketing, sales, procurement, and digital agencies. This position does not have direct reports but requires exceptional influence and leadership across a matrixed organization.

Strategy & Planning
Lead and embed UBL’s digital and eCommerce strategy.
Use data and trends to inform category growth strategies and route-to-market models.
Provide digital insights to shape portfolio and retail strategies.
Channel Development & Execution
Develop scalable programs to drive eCommerce traffic, basket size, and conversions.
Design omnichannel campaigns in collaboration with marketing and sales teams.
Oversee the commercial calendar aligning initiatives with market opportunities.
Performance & Capability Building
Monitor and analyze KPIs and eCommerce performance using robust M&E frameworks.
Champion digital content quality including SEO, product imagery, and listings.
Offer strategic support to sales teams and partners on execution and planning.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, supply, and procurement.
Build strong relationships with external agencies, distributors, and digital partners.
Key Outputs:
Effective omnichannel strategies across priority accounts.
Improved digital shelf and product content quality.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
3–5 years of experience in eCommerce or omnichannel roles within FMCG/CPG.
Proven performance in both commercial and digital marketing roles.
Strong analytical skills and experience with digital performance metrics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
Experience with eCommerce platforms or marketplaces in Uganda.
Strong understanding of digital shopper behavior.
Ability to build consumer-first programs and lead cross-functional teams.
Commercial acumen combined with strong creative judgment.
