Role Purpose
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Driver to support our Kyangwali field operations. The Driver will be responsible for safely transporting staff, goods, and documents, ensuring vehicles are in excellent mechanical condition, and complying with all organizational and traffic regulations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Safely drive Save the Children vehicles to transport staff, visitors, goods, and documents as required.
Ensure vehicles are regularly cleaned, maintained, and serviced in line with organizational guidelines.
Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, tire pressure, brakes, etc.) and report any defects or incidents promptly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks, mileage records, and monthly reports (log sheets and Profleet).
Ensure that all vehicle documentation (licenses, insurance) is valid and up to date.
Keep safety tools and emergency equipment (e.g., spare tire, first aid kit, fire extinguisher) in the vehicle at all times.
Support visitors and staff professionally and courteously, assisting with logistics when needed.
Adhere to traffic laws, internal vehicle policies, and Save the Children’s Child Protection Code of Conduct and security guidelines.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of O-Level education (UCE Certificate).
Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (at least 2 years of training).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant driving experience, preferably with an international NGO.
Valid Ugandan driver’s license with the following classes: DM, DL, CM, and B (held for at least 3 years).
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
Sound knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
Familiarity with NGO and diplomatic community routes is an added advantage.
Demonstrated responsibility, professionalism, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
