Job Description

The Direct Sales Officer – SME Business Accounts Acquisition will focus on developing and executing effective strategies to attract SME clients across different sectors. The role includes identifying prospects through market intelligence, referrals, and field activities, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal onboarding procedures. The officer will cross-sell various products such as loans, trade finance, and digital payment solutions while building long-term client relationships. Additional responsibilities include analyzing market trends, preparing performance reports, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to internal collaboration for efficient service delivery.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute plans to attract new SME and business clients

  • Identify and approach high-value prospects through fieldwork and networking

  • Lead client onboarding and ensure KYC/AML compliance

  • Promote the full suite of SME banking solutions including business accounts, loans, POS/QR services, and bancassurance

  • Maintain and grow strong customer relationships

  • Work collaboratively with credit, operations, and product teams

  • Analyze market and competitor trends to uncover opportunities or risks

  • Present periodic performance reports and sales pipeline updates

  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and respond to audit issues

  • Support and guide junior sales team members in meeting their goals

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related field

  • Additional professional certifications in sales or banking are advantageous

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in SME or business banking

  • Demonstrated success in client acquisition and portfolio management

  • Experience working in a target-oriented environment is highly preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong sales and business development skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

  • Knowledge of SME banking products and financial services

  • Analytical and strategic thinking

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM tools

  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision
