Job Description

This position involves delivering dental care services at the facility and within the community, including assessing oral health needs, managing dental emergencies, performing minor surgical procedures, and referring complex cases. The Dental Officer also ensures proper maintenance of dental equipment, contributes to planning and budgeting for the dental department, and adheres to Medical Teams International’s professional and ethical standards. The role also involves educating communities on oral hygiene and collaborating with health teams for outreach and awareness activities.

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Diploma in Public Health Dentistry

  • Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council

  • Valid practicing license is required


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a dental assistant

  • Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage


Knowledge:

  • Understanding of oral health conditions and minor dental surgery procedures


Skills:

  • Proficient in dental anesthesia and performing extractions

  • Skilled in health education and behavior change strategies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good command of English (written and spoken)


Abilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics

  • Treat patients and staff with respect and without bias

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate dental care

  • Maintain detailed, accurate records

  • Support MTI’s mission and values


Physical Conditions:

  • Work may be conducted in remote health facilities and communities with basic living conditions
