Job Title: Contract Accountant
Organisation: Zenith Law Advocates
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Salary: UGX 9,600,000
Job Summary: The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing core finance functions, including bookkeeping, tax compliance, generating EFRIS invoices, and filing statutory returns. This role requires a solid understanding of Ugandan tax regulations and financial reporting standards, particularly as they apply to service-based professional firms.

How to Apply
Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, expense tracking, and reconciliations.
Generate EFRIS-compliant invoices and ensure all tax invoices meet URA standards.
Handle monthly and quarterly tax filings, including VAT, PAYE, and income tax.
Ensure timely filing of annual returns with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Liaise with URA and other relevant bodies to ensure compliance with all statutory obligations.
Support payroll calculations and NSSF remittance as needed.
Prepare monthly financial summaries and reports for internal review.
Recommend improvements to accounting systems and internal controls as appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a law firm or service-oriented organisation.
Proven knowledge of Ugandan tax law, URA filing systems, and EFRIS invoicing.
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Tally) is an advantage.
High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and time-management skills.
Contract Terms
The position is offered on a contract basis (duration and working hours negotiable).
Compensation is fixed at UGX 800,000 per month, payable upon submission of agreed deliverables.
A remote or hybrid working arrangement may be considered.
