About the Role
As the Clearing and Forwarding Manager, you will lead AGL's core freight operations in Uganda, overseeing both sea and airfreight processes. This role is critical in ensuring that goods move efficiently, compliantly, and profitably across borders.
You will manage a diverse client portfolio and be responsible for optimizing end-to-end import and export operations. From regulatory compliance to stakeholder coordination, you’ll drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality service that exceeds expectations.

How to Apply
Leadership & Team Management:Guide, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Set clear KPIs and foster a culture of accountability and growth.
Operational Oversight:Manage and optimize clearing and forwarding processes for both sea and air freight. Ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods.
Client Portfolio Management:Serve as the primary contact for key clients. Ensure exceptional service delivery while driving profitability and contract compliance.
Process Improvement:Collaborate with QHSE to develop and implement SOPs. Continuously identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce risk.
Stakeholder Coordination:Work closely with transporters, subcontractors, government agencies, and internal departments (Sales, Finance, Compliance) to ensure seamless service delivery.
Financial Performance:Monitor and manage departmental budgets. Support pricing strategies and credit control in alignment with finance teams.
Quality & Compliance:Ensure all operations meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor and report on performance using logistics tools and KPIs.

Sea Freight (Import & Export): Efficient handling and clearance, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely delivery.
Airfreight: Fast-paced coordination of high-priority shipments with a focus on cost, speed, and service quality.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in clearing and forwarding, including 5+ years in a managerial position.
Strong expertise in freight operations (sea and air), customs regulations, and portfolio management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with logistics software (e.g., PowerBI, TMS, Way) is a plus.
Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems, and manage multiple stakeholders.
