Job Description
Interpreting blueprints and drawing up plans to determine materials required and plans of action.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Interpreting blueprints and drawing up plans to determine materials required and plans of action.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and smoothing timber and other construction materials.
- Constructing building frameworks including walls, floors, and door frames.
- Ensuring that structures are level, secure, and accurately assembled.
- Installing fixtures such as doors, cabinets, stairs, and paneling, using leveling devices to ensure accurate installation of structures.
- Inspecting and replacing damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures.
- Operating and managing construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety and health regulations.
- Building scaffolding and other construction structures.
- Collaborating with other construction professionals such as electricians, plumbers, and architects to ensure specifications are met.
- Providing advice and feedback to clients about the best materials and structures for their needs.
- Modifying building materials and creating custom cabinetry or other detailed architectural or furniture items, and performing minor calculations to assess load requirements and material dimensions.
- Replacing furniture and all structures in line with carpentry needs.
- Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
