Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing products and services revenue streams through achievement of set sales targets as well as build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, ensuring visibility and delivery of high-quality customer service to the existing and potential clients. S/he develops business plans and strategies to attain sales, customer experience goals and profitability. S/he identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry, researching and analyzing sales options, selling products by establishing contacts and developing relationships with prospects and recommending solutions. The Business Development Manager maintains relationships with partners, clients by providing support, information, and guidance, researching and recommending new opportunities, and recommending profit and service improvements. S/he identifies product improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and company competitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, profile and follow up on all new sales prospects for conversion.

  • Develop and execute sales strategies that promote delivery of pre-agreed set individual and team sales targets.

  • Evaluate customer needs and provision of value-added services as well as building and maintenance of productive client relationships.

  • Maintain and expand the client database within assigned territories and growing revenues as assigned.

  • Liaise with the relevant internal departments to ensure client requests are handled and resolved while adhering to the company service delivery standards.

  • Coordinating the end-to-end sales process which involves proposal writing, contract agreements, recording of orders, invoicing, and ensuring payment for products and services rendered.

  • Attending meetings, sales events and trainings to keep abreast of the latest industry developments as well as gathering market intelligence and providing feedback on trends and forecasts.

  • Promote business growth by managing customer relations and ensuring that customer complaints are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Provide feedback to the management on insightful market intelligence and research relating to the market environment and on opportunities available and approaches to adopt in efforts to maintain a competitive edge and use your research insights to inform and identify new markets and customer needs.

  • Identify and engage in key networking opportunities to raise the company profile.

  • Organize and implement a client and partner care program including client satisfaction/feedback surveys, client and partner development activities, and client and partner events.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and constantly strengthening processes, systems and procedures to improves speed and quality of service.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Provide regular reporting on the performance of the key accounts weekly, monthly and as may be required.

  • Any other duties as required by management

Qualification

  • An Undergraduate degree preferably in Sales and Marketing

  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing/Commercial focus will be an added advantage.

  • At least five (5) years of proven sales track record in a senior role within a highly commercial environment with demonstrable experience in managing sales teams to achieve targets.

  • Good understanding of logistics products is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A focus on organization, and enhanced multitasking abilities

  • Experienced in B2B sales, marketing and strategic analysis.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to close deals.

  • Experience researching market trends, targeting relationships and using proven methods to develop business strategy while retaining marketing partners.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical analysis software

  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements

  • Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner

  • Highly influential with the ability to bring together stakeholders.
