About the Organisation

National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.

In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.

On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.

In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.

Job Description

Job Title: Broker Relationship Manager

Location: Head Office – Uganda

Reports to: Deputy Director, Marketing


Position Summary:

NIC General is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join its team as a Broker Relationship Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding broker relationships, driving sales, and ensuring excellent service delivery to support the company’s growth and profitability.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with brokers, understanding their needs and delivering timely support.

  • Identify opportunities to grow the business within the existing broker network while recruiting new brokers.

  • Serve as the main point of contact between NIC General and brokers, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of issues.

  • Support brokers with policy issuance, claims management, and inquiries.

  • Provide training and product education to brokers.

  • Monitor broker performance, identify gaps, and implement improvement plans.

  • Analyze broker portfolio performance to maximize revenue and market penetration.

  • Execute marketing strategies across all assigned broker accounts.

  • Collaborate with underwriters and internal teams to ensure a high-quality service proposition.

  • Meet sales targets through strategic planning and implementation.

  • Manage service level agreements (SLAs) with brokers and ensure service delivery meets agreed standards.

  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.

  • Perform additional duties as may be assigned.


Goals and Objectives:

  • Enhance broker satisfaction through excellent support and service.

  • Drive growth by increasing business from current and new brokers.

  • Strengthen broker engagement and collaboration.

  • Contribute to the achievement of annual sales and performance targets.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the insurance sector.


Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

  • Deep knowledge of insurance products and services.

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Strong analytical and performance-tracking abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Team leadership experience.

  • High emotional intelligence and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.
