Job Title

Brand Strategist job at International University of East Africa

Job Description

Collaborate with creative teams to develop and refine brand identity elements such as brand name, logo, tagline, typography, colors, and visual assets. Ensure alignment with brand positioning and messaging.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Brand Analysis: Conduct comprehensive brand audits and analyses to understand the current positioning, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the brand.

  • Market Research: Conduct research on target audience demographics, psychographics, preferences, behaviors, and trends. Gather insights into consumer perceptions, competitor positioning, and market dynamics.

  • Brand Positioning: Develop or refine the brand's positioning strategy based on market research findings, competitive analysis, and business objectives. Define the brand's unique value proposition and positioning statement.

  • Brand Identity Development: Collaborate with creative teams to develop and refine brand identity elements such as brand name, logo, tagline, typography, colors, and visual assets. Ensure alignment with brand positioning and messaging.

  • Brand Messaging: Develop brand messaging frameworks, brand narratives, and key messaging pillars that articulate the brand's values, personality, and positioning. Ensure consistency and coherence across all brand communications.

  • Brand Architecture: Define the brand architecture and portfolio strategy, including sub-brands, product lines, and extensions. Develop guidelines for maintaining consistency and clarity within the brand portfolio.

  • Brand Guidelines: Create comprehensive brand guidelines that outline visual and verbal brand standards, usage guidelines, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Brand Campaign Development: Conceptualize, develop, and execute integrated brand campaigns across various channels (e.g., advertising, digital, social media, experiential) to raise brand awareness, drive engagement, and enhance brand perception.

  • Brand Experience Design: Design and orchestrate brand experiences at various touchpoints across the customer journey, ensuring a cohesive and memorable brand experience that aligns with brand values and positioning.

  • Brand Performance Measurement: Define KPIs and metrics to track brand performance, equity, and perception. Monitor and analyze brand health metrics, market share, brand sentiment, and other relevant indicators to assess the effectiveness of brand strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business administration, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees or certifications in branding, brand management, or marketing strategy may be preferred.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills are essential for developing effective brand strategies, conducting market research, and making data-driven decisions.

  • Creative Thinking: Creativity and innovation are important for developing compelling brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity elements that differentiate the brand in the marketplace.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for articulating brand strategies, presenting recommendations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., marketing, creative, product, sales) and external partners (e.g., agencies, vendors) to align brand strategies with business objectives and execute brand initiatives.

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills are important for managing multiple brand projects simultaneously, coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables, and ensuring timely execution.

  • Consumer Insights: Deep understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, and competitive dynamics is essential for developing brand strategies that resonate with target audiences and drive brand affinity.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen attention to detail is necessary for maintaining brand consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all touchpoints and communications.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, consumer preferences, and business priorities while staying true to the brand's core values and positioning.

  • Experience: Previous experience in brand strategy, brand management, marketing, advertising, or related roles is typically required, preferably in a consumer-facing industry or agency environment.
