About the Organisation
National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.
In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.
On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.
In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.

Job Description
Job Title: Branch Manager

Reports to: Branch Coordinator
Position Overview
NIC General is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to take up the position of Branch Manager – Arua Branch. The successful candidate will oversee branch operations, manage client relations, drive business growth, and ensure adherence to underwriting, financial, and administrative standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Handle client inquiries, complaints, and appeals related to general insurance products, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
Grow branch business by generating new leads and nurturing relationships with existing clients to drive retention.
Process policy documents including new business, renewals, endorsements, and alterations in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
Maintain branch financial records, capturing all transactions—including premium collections, policy issues, and claim settlements—into the system.
Assist in preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports to the Head Office.
Follow up on credit premium payments and prepare outstanding premiums reports.
Conduct risk inspections and assist with claims verification in line with underwriting procedures.
Prepare claims files and payment vouchers for approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
Manage petty cash operations, process disbursements upon approval, and ensure timely accountability.
Ensure daily banking of premiums, renewals, and other collected funds per financial procedures.
Supervise all branch staff and oversee day-to-day branch operations.
Provide oversight and support to outlet officers operating under the branch.
Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of a Diploma in Marketing or a related field from a recognized institution.
Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance is required.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the insurance industry, ideally in a supervisory or managerial role.
Key Competencies and Skills:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent interpersonal and team leadership abilities.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet use.
Emotional intelligence and effective decision-making skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity and ability to work independently.
