In 2019, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), in collaboration with Makerere University’s Colleges of Computing & Health Sciences and the Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology at the United States' National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), established the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Data-Intensive Sciences (ACE) in Uganda. This center is one of only two such facilities on the African continent, the other being located in Mali. The ACE operates under IDI's research program, one of six core programs within the institute. Its mission is to serve as a sustainable center of excellence, leveraging High Performance Computing (HPC), bioinformatics, data science, and visualization to advance health research and training across Africa.

Job Description
Responsible for sample transportation from lower health facilities to respective hubs, post office and deliver results in a timely manner ensuring high level of biosafety and bio security. The position holder will provide technical assistance to ensure timely and quality attainment and sustenance of HIV epidemic control interventions in supported districts.

Pick client samples from designated IDI-MWHP supported health facilities and deliver them to the designated lab hub for testing
Pick results from the Laboratory hubs and deliver them to the respective peripheral health facilities
Ensure safety and security of client samples during transportation to the laboratory hubs for testing
Maintain utmost confidentiality and protection of client results and any other related information during transportation of results to the health facilities
Timely response and availability at the required facility whenever called upon to offer support
Ensure safety and security of the motor bike during after sample transportation process
