Some jurisdictions may require auto electricians to hold a valid driver's license and/or certification in automotive electrical systems. Additionally, certification from automotive manufacturers or industry organizations may be beneficial for career advancement.

  • Vehicle Diagnosis: Diagnose electrical faults in automotive systems using diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Repair and Maintenance: Repair or replace faulty electrical components such as wiring, switches, sensors, relays, and motors in vehicles.

  • Installation: Install electrical systems and components in vehicles, including lighting, sound systems, alarms, GPS devices, and communication systems.

  • Battery Maintenance: Test, charge, and replace vehicle batteries as needed, ensuring proper functioning of the electrical system.

  • Alternator and Starter Motor Repair: Repair or replace faulty alternators and starter motors, ensuring proper functioning of the charging and starting systems.

  • Electrical System Upgrades: Upgrade vehicle electrical systems to meet performance, safety, or regulatory requirements, such as installing aftermarket accessories or improving lighting systems.

  • Electrical Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex electrical issues in vehicles, including intermittent faults, short circuits, and wiring harness problems.

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct electrical safety inspections on vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, installations, and maintenance activities, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.

  • Manual Dexterity: Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for handling small electrical components and performing precise wiring and soldering tasks.

  • Safety Awareness: A commitment to safety is essential when working with vehicle electrical systems. Auto electricians must adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are important for interacting with customers, colleagues, and supervisors. Auto electricians must be able to explain electrical issues and repair options clearly to customers.

  • Diploma/certificate in Auto Electrical & motor vehicle wiring

  • 3-5 years experience in auto mobile workshop
