Assistant Food & Beverage Manager job at Protea Hotel

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant F&B Manager to join our team. The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of proven experience as an F&B leader in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong track record of delivering outstanding customer service and maximizing revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Run the day-to-day operation of food and beverage section.

  • Together with the F&B manager, design and implement

  • sales promotional activities to achieve the revenue target.

  • Support the F&B manager to ensure that Brand Standards are upheld and adhered to in the F&B service at all time.

  • Develop a relationship with regular customers and ensure to generate a feedback mechanism.

  • Build a culture of excellent customer service within the team and beyond.

  • Negotiate with clients regarding use of facilities for parties, banquets and other events.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Experience: Typically, candidates for Assistant F&B Manager positions have prior experience in the food and beverage industry, often in roles such as restaurant manager, supervisor, or similar.

  • Education: A degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is often preferred. However, relevant work experience can sometimes compensate for formal education.

  • Leadership Skills: Assistant F&B Managers must be able to lead and motivate staff effectively. This includes delegating tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a positive work environment.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, customers, and other departments within the organization.

  • Customer Service: Assistant F&B Managers should have a customer-centric mindset and be dedicated to providing exceptional service to guests. They should be able to handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and effectively.

  • Financial Management: Knowledge of basic financial principles, such as budgeting, cost control, and revenue management, is important for overseeing F&B operations within budgetary constraints.

  • Organizational Skills: Assistant F&B Managers must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively to ensure smooth operation of the F&B department.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to think critically and solve problems on the fly is crucial in a fast-paced F&B environment.

  • Attention to Detail: From ensuring food quality to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, Assistant F&B Managers must pay attention to even the smallest details to uphold the reputation of the establishment.

  • Adaptability: The hospitality industry can be unpredictable, with fluctuating demand and unexpected challenges. Assistant F&B Managers should be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances quickly.

  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage: A solid understanding of food and beverage trends, industry standards, and best practices is essential for success in this role.

  • Team Player: Assistant F&B Managers should be collaborative and able to work effectively with colleagues from other departments to achieve common goals.

  • Training and Development: They should be committed to training and developing staff to ensure high levels of service and productivity.

  • Compliance: Knowledge of health and safety regulations, as well as food hygiene standards, is necessary to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
