6. Job Title: Assistant Accountant (02 Positions)
Duty Station:
Level: GPO Kampala
Five (05)
Reports to: Manager, Finance
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Provide support to the finance team in book keeping, capturing of transactions in the ERP System, reporting, management of the company financial resources, administration and management of the Company’s overall accounting process.
Provide financial information including analysis of the financial status and projected out-turns and participate in the production of standard accounting reports.
Provide support in budgeting process, monitor budgets and ensure significant items are correctly reported in line with the department’s priorities.
Ensure correct accounting policies are being applied when posting transactions and analyze budget spending to ensure they are in line with budget and work plans.
Reconcile total value of receipts with physical cash, bank slips for all bank deposits, brokers’ fees receipts and record in the cash and bank register.
Maintain terminal dues and philately ledgers, capture payroll to produce monthly pay slips, capture payment vouchers and update files for Philately Contracted Agents.
GPO, DPO's and Sorting Centre and update the register as per contracts signed.
Perform general accounts receivables and payables functions for instance Prepare and submit customer invoices, post and receipt payments and coordinate deposit activities.
Monitor customer accounts for non-payment or delayed payment and Check, verify and process invoices, Sort, code and enter accounts payable data.
Reconcile debtor’s balances against the client’s documentation for EMS, Postage Prepaid, Mail bags, Easy mail and all Tenants.
Bachelors’ Degree (Honors) in Accounting (Commerce, Business Administration, Management Science, Financial Management or Accounting) from a recognized University.
Level one of Professional accounting qualification in CPA, ACCA, or CIMA will be an added advantage.
Working Experience:
At least one (01) years’ experience in a similar or related function.
