About the Organisation
National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.
In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.
On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.
In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.

Job Description
Job Title: Area Sales Representative (Fresher Jobs)
Organisation: NIC General Insurance
Duty Station: Mukono, Uganda
Job Summary: To drive continuous agent recruitment, training, supervision, client engagement, premium collection, and reporting, in line with company policies and procedures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Attend to and advise clients on the general insurance inquiries, complaints, and appeals and generate relevant correspondence to stake holders in line with the underwriting standards and guidelines.
Continuous Agents recruitment, training, motivating and retaining agents and business on book with rising premium collection.
Supervision and safeguarding company Assets.
Mentoring, coaching and supervising agents on a daily basis-using activity & field accompaniment forms – (agent must have at least 12 prospects to see every day)
Constantly reminding agents about their targets, monitoring performance, assisting them and guiding the team to segmented markets.
Instill discipline and time keeping to the agents.
Occasionally accompany agents to the field to improve their presentation and selling skills and hold one on one meetings with slow agents to enhance and improve their skills.
Timely preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production/ performance reports.
Chairing agents meetings and ensure proper delegation whenever need arises (provide minutes).
Motivate the team, create innovative promotions /competitions to reward performance.
Market search for worksites; pitching, segment and penetrate market to engage agents at all times.
Do premium collection with concerned agents / follow up orphaned policies; reassign some- to agents.
Create morale among agents, handhold new ones to achieve 100% retention rate.
Continuous research on competitor’s products and collect market intelligence to the Supervisor.
Resolving conflicts, counseling and guiding agents for quality and compliance.
Providing a conducive office atmosphere at all times, create order and ensure office tidiness.
Ensuring that every business transaction in and out is documented, recorded and a copy filed.
Maintaining and ensuring proper dress code and hygiene at all times.
Welcoming the clients and offering them the necessary assistance.
Following up the clients claims in time by submitting all claim requirements
Submit weekly, quarterly and annual performance reports for the agency unit.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A minimum of a Bachelor’s in Marketing or any related field from a reputable University.
Certificate of proficiency in Insurance
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in insurance.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication
Demonstrate good communication skills both written and Oral.
Report writing skills and Analytical skills.
Excellent computer proficiency in Ms Word, Ms Excel, PowerPoint and Internet usage.
Good Interpersonal skills
Proven experience with leading Teams.
All around leadership skills both internal and external stakeholders.
Problem solving skills
Emotional Intelligence.
Organizational skills
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
