Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for recording all financial transactions, reconciling accounts, managing budgets, processing tax obligations, and preparing financial statements. Additional duties include coordinating audits, supporting payroll and retirement fund contributions, managing bank and mobile money transactions, and maintaining strong internal controls. The role also includes overseeing physical and digital records, asset management, insurance, and other administrative finance-related functions.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Record all financial transactions related to company assets and liabilities.
Reconcile bank, mobile money, cash, receivables, and payables accounts.
Identify, categorize, and assign values to company assets including intangible ones.
Review and disburse departmental budgets and accountabilities.
Supervise and review daily sales, petty cash, and receipt processes.
Maintain organized physical and digital financial records.
Manage bank accounts including transfers, cheques, reconciliations, and follow-ups.
Ensure tax compliance, prepare and submit returns, and resolve URA matters.
Prepare financial statements and reports for management and funders.
Handle retirement fund contributions and monthly submissions.
Liaise on company registration and certification updates.
Support director work permit processing.
Manage staff attendance/clock-in systems and fuel card allocations.
Coordinate GPS tracking and mobile money systems for business operations.
Administer medical insurance and process claims.
Manage staff transportation via Safeboda business wallet.
Process payments for suppliers, review contracts, MoUs, and coordinate with third parties.
Supervise the bookkeeper and oversee cash management across regional hubs.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA certification is required.
Proven experience in accounting or financial management.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial analysis tools.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and in teams.
High integrity and ethical standards.
