Job Description
Job Opportunity: Accountant

Position: Accountant (Full-Time)
Latitude Trade Co. is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Accountant to support our sourcing and chocolate operations in Uganda. This full-time, in-country role reports directly to the Managing Director and plays a key role in ensuring strong financial oversight and efficient accounting practices across our branches.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead management accounting for both sourcing and chocolate production operations.
Supervise and support a team of 4–5 Accounts Assistants, including training, task planning, performance management, and review of work.
Manage cash planning for 2-week and 4-week cycles at all branches.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of management accounts and tax returns by the 10th of each month.
Handle transaction entry and expense categorization using Odoo software.
Perform bank and inventory reconciliations (including raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and work-in-progress).
Ensure operations staff complete daily Odoo entries to enable weekly reconciliation.
Review invoicing for cocoa and chocolate-related sales.
Support reconciliation of retail sales and inventory; produce weekly and monthly reports.
Organize and consolidate all financial documentation in preparation for audits.
Provide weekly Cost of Goods (COGs) reports for sourcing and production.
Assist Accounts Assistants with Accounts Receivable/Payable (AR/AP).
Participate in routine inventory audits and the annual external audit process.
Track and report on loans, investors, donors, and partnerships.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable institution
CPA or ACCA certification
Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in Africa or a comparable context
Proven experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
Knowledge or background in agriculture, agronomy, or agro-processing (preferred)
Strong organizational skills and independent problem-solving ability
Willingness to travel to and work in rural areas
A positive attitude, patience, and a good sense of humor
