Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable/receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. The role includes processing payroll, handling statutory deductions, budget tracking, supporting audits, and advising management on financial strategies. Candidates with experience in retail or pharmaceutical sectors will have an added advantage.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain and prepare accurate financial records and reports
Monitor and document daily financial transactions
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Process payroll and remit PAYE, VAT, pensions, and other statutory deductions
Assist in the preparation and tracking of budgets
Ensure tax compliance and liaise with tax authorities
Support internal and external audit processes
Advise management on cost-saving and revenue-enhancing opportunities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualification:
B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting roles
Professional Certification:
ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
High attention to detail and integrity
Experience in the retail or pharmaceutical sector is an added advantage
