Job Description
As an Accountant at Carbon, you will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, managing daily transaction reconciliations across multiple platforms, supporting budget development, and ensuring compliance with financial standards. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using tools such as NIBSS, MIFOS, Paystack, Interswitch, and will bring a strong analytical mindset to investigate financial discrepancies and enhance financial operations through process improvements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
Analyze financial data to detect trends, discrepancies, and improvement areas
Manage daily reconciliations for platforms like NIBSS, Paystack, MIFOS, and card payment systems
Assist in budgeting and provide variance analysis
Use tools such as Retool, Confluence, and other financial software for reporting and data management
Ensure regulatory compliance and support audits by providing necessary documentation
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Collaborate with operations, technology, and risk departments to streamline financial processes

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Experience reconciling transactions on platforms like NIBSS, Paystack, Interswitch, and card systems (Visa/MC)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of payment systems, settlement procedures, and financial reporting standards
Experience with core banking systems like MIFOS is an advantage
Proficiency in data management tools such as Retool and Confluence
Professional certifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) are a plus
Highly organized and detail-oriented
