Job Description

The Authority is seeking to recruit qualified Ugandans of high integrity and commitment to fill the following positions:

JOB REF: UCAA/ADV/EXT/02/2024

POSITION: DRIVER

REPORTING TO: TRANSPORT OFFICER

SALARY LEVEL: 7

VACANCIES:

  • 10 positions (Driving Permit Class DE)

  • 14 positions (Driving Permit Class D1)

JOB PURPOSE:

The Driver is responsible for providing transport services to UCAA staff, clients, and business associates in compliance with UCAA policies and the Traffic and Road Safety Act 1998 (as amended), ensuring the smooth operation of the aviation industry.

How to Apply

  1. Vehicle Operation

    • Safely operate assigned UCAA vehicles, including buses, following UCAA guidelines and Traffic and Road Safety regulations.

    • Exercise care and skill in ensuring the safety of vehicles, passengers, and property.

    • Follow UCAA procedures for vehicle handling and transportation efficiency.

  2. Vehicle Maintenance

    • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, ensuring it reflects a positive image of UCAA.

    • Maintain up-to-date vehicle logs for movements and fueling.

    • Adhere to regular vehicle inspection and service schedules to ensure the vehicle remains in good working condition.

    • Monitor the mechanical condition of the vehicle and report any defects for repair.

    • Maintain accurate records of vehicle incidents, ensuring proper monitoring and maintenance.

  3. Additional Tasks

    • Perform any other lawful tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and cooperation.

Person Specifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of an O-Level Certificate.

  • Valid Driving License with at least Class D1.

  • Certificate in Defensive Driving.

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant driving experience in a reputable organization.

  • Experience driving PMO/PSV licensed vehicles with knowledge of manual and automatic transmissions.

  • Good physical fitness to drive.


Desirable Requirements:

  • Age between 28 and 45 years.

  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics.


Behavioral Competencies:

  • Strong time management.

  • Self-discipline and attention to detail.

  • Ability to anticipate needs and concentrate on tasks.


Special Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven integrity, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Strong communication skills, particularly in English.
