Job Description
Under the supervision of the Country Director or designated supervisor, the Driver will ensure smooth and safe transportation of Organisation's personnel, delivery of documents, and efficient handling of administrative support functions.
Key functions include:
Driving the Organisation's staff and visitors while ensuring compliance with safety and traffic regulations.
Maintaining the assigned vehicle in good working condition, ensuring timely servicing, repairs, and cleanliness.
Managing vehicle logs, insurance documents, and fuel consumption records.
Supporting administrative tasks including document filing, photocopying, scanning, mail distribution, and pouch dispatch.
Assisting in the maintenance of the office registry system and archives.
Supporting staff travel arrangements, including preparing travel authorizations and security clearances.
Maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and high ethical standards in all activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide safe, reliable, and courteous driving services for the NGO staff, consultants, and visitors.
Transport mail, documents, and other items between offices or external destinations.
Ensure timely maintenance, cleanliness, and servicing of the assigned vehicle.
Maintain accurate vehicle logs and records of fuel consumption and mileage.
Handle minor repairs and coordinate major repairs as needed.
Maintain office filing and registry systems in accordance with the NGO's standards.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and official communications.
Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, travel, and office operations.
Assist in photocopying, scanning, filing, and maintaining archives.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education:
Secondary school education (high school diploma).
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in administration and driving.
Proven record of safe driving.
Experience working with international organizations, embassies, or UN agencies is an advantage.
Certifications:
Valid driver’s license (Category B).
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent knowledge of local traffic laws and road networks.
Basic vehicle maintenance and repair skills.
Ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently.
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Fluent in English; knowledge of French, Arabic, or Spanish is an added advantage.
Defensive driving and knowledge of basic security procedures.
Flexibility, adaptability, and good judgment under pressure.
